About me

Welcome to my blog. I’m Jo, aka Beyond Cougar.
Through my life, I’ve always been drawn to younger men. A little over five years ago, I met a man – a much younger man, and within a year, he was my husband.
Although he’s ten years younger than me, we complement one another beautifully. The age difference has been something that other people seem more concerned with than we do! Of course, no relationship is perfect, ours included, and some of our challenges are undoubtedly to do with our difference in age. But, so far, nothing has been insurmountable and as the years pass, we only become stronger.
As for me, I have spent 20 years in marketing and PR, so writing isn’t something new to me. I’ve ghost written more articles than I care to remember, but this is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to write as myself, about a subject that really matters to me. I currently work as a freelance marketing communications, PR and social media consultant.
While there are plenty of women out there, who are busy redefining ‘cougars’ and cheering on the women who date younger men, there are very few out there who are actually with a younger man, who are willing to put their head above the parapet and be counted. I’m not about piggy-backing some trend to further my own aspirations – I’m simply here to share my experiences, based on my real life, as the wife of a much younger man.
I hope you enjoy my blog and my writing, and I look forward to getting to know you all better!
Jo

Hi Jo! Kudos! This is an awesome blog site and wonderful idea! We, at Kougar Magazine (KougarMagazine.com), are doing the same – reinventing the term “cougar” and getting it away from that (scary) concept the media loves to depict! We’re happy to give you our support and look forward to your upcoming thoughts!
Cheers!

Thanks Paula! I just took a peek at your mag – what a great job you do – I’m going back for a full read of the back issues right now, lol. I love that finally, we are starting to see a backlash to how ‘cougars’ are portrayed. More and more wonderful women are taking a stand to prove that they can be strong, empowered, successful and proud of who they are, and that the age of the man that they date is irrelevant. Keep up the great work, and many thanks for your support.
